Important Sizing Considerations

Other than the obvious question, will the post fit into the seat tube? Many cyclists don’t think much about how the seat post can enhance the comfort of your ride. 

Making sure you have enough height adjustability so that your knees have a 120 degree bend means that your saddle height will be fixed at that height. 

As your seat is raised or lowered, the saddle is either increasing its distance from behind the pedals and bars, or decreasing the distance. Establishing your saddle height first is the most important thing to do because after that you need to find the correct saddle position to align your knees with the pedals.

In order to accomplish this, you slide your saddle fore and aft. Most seat posts setback a little, but what if that puts your knees behind the pedals? Now you need to look for a post with no setback. Conversely, if your knees are too forward of the pedals, you need to find a post that has a more aggressive setback.
