S#3019TD
This frame has a lot of history. Released in 1999, The Italian hand built Columbus Altec II 7000-series aluminum tubing Spada was nothing short of the perfect ride. Built for speed, the Spada was designed to race with super light aluminum tubing, beautifully smoothed at each joint, but made sure to reinforce the bottom bracket with heavy welds to pump up its stiffness. But the remarkable thing about the Spada is that while it is highly stiff and responsive, corners like it’s on rails and accelerates like a bat out of hell, it’s strangely compliant over rough roads and has a very soft, comfortable “feeling” ride!
Additionally, in 1999, Ontario Canada, an aggressive anti-drug campaign was ramping up its efforts spreading drug awareness throughout North America. D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) sponsored a bike racing team (OPOA – Ontario Police Officers Association) and used the Spada to steed its racers. There is simply no hesitation when you stomp on the pedals and the bike just takes off making this bike an excellent racer. DARE still sponsors races in Canada to this day and Ontario is a wonderful cycling city.
Condition:
Please watch the video in the photo gallery. The frame is in very good condition except for cosmetic blemishes. Chipped paint, scratches and peeling decals are primarily the only detractors. Everything else is great. Threads are excellent.
