CONDITION: The Good – It all works great. Vest and arm are in great shape, springs perfect. The Bad – the “Y” vest mount was broken and repaired. There’s glue where the repair was. The glue covered the screw hole. You’ll need to drill a hole for that. The arm does not have the gimbal bolt. I used a bolt from ACE and it worked like it should (pictured).
This is a Steadicam Pilot 801-7200 arm and vest system. The components are from the professional Steadicam Pilot stabilization system designed for cameras weighing 2-10 pounds. This legendary Tiffen system was the industry standard for achieving smooth, professional camera movement in film and video production. While the arm functions perfectly and the vest is in excellent condition, this system is missing the gimbal mounting bolt and the Y-brace has been repaired, so it’s being sold as-is for experienced operators who can complete the setup.

ITEM-BY-ITEM CONDITION ASSESSMENT:
ARM (801-7200): Functions perfectly. The two-section iso-elastic arm operates smoothly through its full 28-inch boom range with proper tension and no binding. All joints articulate correctly. Shows normal cosmetic wear from professional use including surface scratches and minor scuffs on the black finish. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: Does not include the gimbal mounting post/bolt – you’ll need to source this separately or use a standard bolt as many operators do.
VEST: Clean and in very good condition. All hook-and-loop fasteners are strong and hold securely. Padding throughout is intact with no compression or deterioration. Shoulder straps adjust properly. Vest fabric shows minimal wear. This ultra-low-profile design distributes weight comfortably for extended shooting sessions.
WAIST SUPPORT: Good functional condition. Includes all original mounting hardware. Belt and padding in good shape.
Y-BRACE (CHEST SUPPORT): This component was previously broken and has been repaired. The repairs are holding well and the brace functions as it should for supporting the arm post. IMPORTANT: The buyer will need to drill a mounting hole for the attachment screw to complete installation. The structural repair is solid but cosmetically shows evidence of the repair work.
