Workshop Wisdom Greg LeMond was known for pioneering what became known as the “LeMond Fit” or “French Fit” geometry. The key characteristic was a longer top tube paired with a shorter stem, which was different from the traditional Italian fit that used shorter top tubes with longer stems. LeMond believed this geometry provided better handling and more stable position, especially during hard efforts. The theory was that having more of the rider’s weight over the rear wheel (due to the longer top tube) provided better traction and control, while the shorter stem made the steering less twitchy.
The age of this frame is late 90’s to early 2000’s – It’s more modern geometry (rear spacing) and the serial number 1311 leads me to believe the frame was manufactured 01/31/01 – but I’m not sure.
