🏆 The Story Behind the Frame

Airborne X-1 – Serial #E0306025 – Aviation Legend

“Breaking Barriers on Two Wheels”

This isn’t just any titanium frame – it’s a tribute to aviation history itself. Dating to the late 1990s-early 2000s (Shimano 6500 Ultegra era), the X-1 name honors Chuck Yeager’s historic flight on October 14, 1947, when he piloted the Bell X-1 “Glamorous Glennis” to Mach 1.06, becoming the first person to break the sound barrier. Notice the authentic aviation details: “NO STEP” and “BEWARE OF BLAST” stickers, plus “FIRST SUPERSONIC FLIGHT, MACH 1.06 10/14/47” on the top tube – pure aerospace authenticity.

🚴 The Ride Ti 3AL/2.5V aerospace-grade titanium delivers that legendary titanium ride quality – compliance where you want it, stiffness where you need it. At just 1765g, this frame punches way above its weight class. The unique elliptical tubing (only the head tube is round!) and adjustable chainstays create a ride that’s both comfortable for centuries and absolutely devastating for time trials.

The Build Quality is NUTS That bottom bracket isn’t just stiff – it’s a missile launcher. The seat tube welded directly to the chainstays and BB creates a propulsion chamber that turns every watt into forward motion. When you stomp on the pedals, this thing doesn’t flex – it accelerates. The massively reinforced BB shell with those fat welds means zero power loss, just pure thrust. Those adjustable dropouts (20mm range) aren’t just for show – they’re for dialing in the perfect chain line when you’re chasing KOMs or TT PRs.

🔧 Workshop Wisdom – despite the unique shaped tubes, the frame is sized to fit most standard components. It’s an easy build. See below.
