Workshop Wisdom: Never use grease on carbon seatposts in carbon frames — use carbon assembly paste instead. In alloy frames, a light smear of grease is fine. Torque the clamp bolt to spec (typically 5–8Nm) — overtightening carbon posts is the most common cause of laminate damage. Always use a torque wrench.
