The SID HydraAir is a landmark fork — one of the lightest 26″ XC air forks ever made, right at the height of RockShox’s early air spring development. At 3 lbs it’s feathery for a suspension fork of this era, and the HydraAir damper system was legitimately advanced for its time. A great find for a vintage XC build, hardtail revival, or a rider keeping a classic 26″ rig alive.
Workshop Wisdom:
Before riding, verify air pressure with a dedicated suspension pump — standard Schrader valve. These forks respond well to a fresh bath of light suspension oil in the lowers; a simple service takes 30 minutes and brings the feel back to new. Budget air spring pressure around 50–80 PSI depending on rider weight.
