Cassette Guidelines
Your cassette needs to blend with your drivetrain and wheel hub. Typically these attributes are dictated by the brand of the drivetrain (shifters, derailleurs, wheel hub) and the number of speeds the shifters are designed for. In other words, a 10 speed cassette wont work with 9 speed shifters. Additionally, a Shimano drivetrain won’t work with a Campagnolo cassette.
However, several companies make cassettes compatible with specific drivetrains (brand and speed). SRAM has always been a popular and affordable option to the brand name.
Cassette Wear
Cleaning your chain regularly will postpone wear and tear on both the chain, cassette and front chainrings. A chain quickly picks up road dust and grime that acts like a grinder to your gearing.
Instead of oil based lubricants that act like glue for road grime, use paraffin wax and Teflon. Check out our portfolio on this.
