Notes from MyBikeThing
The Keo Classic is the pedal that got half the peloton’s weekend riders into clipless, and it earns that on the retention system — a proper steel coil spring with real adjustment range. Back the tension off and it’s forgiving enough for a rider’s first month on road cleats; wind it up and it holds tight. The 400mm² platform is wide enough that you feel planted rather than balanced on a post.
Workshop Wisdom
These install with an 8mm hex from behind the crank arm — there are no wrench flats on the axle, so don’t go hunting for a 15mm pedal spanner. Grease the threads before they go in, and remember the left pedal is reverse-threaded: turn it toward the back of the bike to tighten.
