Description
Will this work?
- Olmo-engraved steel headset, complete
- 1″ threaded steerer, Italian 25.4 x 24 TPI
- 27.0mm crown race — Italian standard
- 30.2mm pressed cups
- All bearing balls present, both races
- Includes: all cups, races, locknut, bearings
Condition: Excellent condition. Cleaned and degreased, not one bearing ball lost. Races show no pitting. Olmo engraving is crisp. Bearings will need fresh grease at install. Lots of miles left.
Notes from MyBikeThing: The original Olmo-pantographed headset off a 1950s-60s Olmo — the part a marque restorer can’t substitute. Sixty-year-old grease had hardened to candle wax, and underneath, the races survived perfectly. Disassembled, degreased, and complete down to the last ball bearing.
Workshop Wisdom: Loose-ball headsets outlast cartridge units when greased right: pack the cups heavy so the grease holds the balls in place during fork install. This is the Italian standard (27.0mm crown race) — confirm your fork crown matches; English-spec forks seat a 26.4mm race and won’t fit without machining.
Guarantee: You put in the miles, we put in the work! 30 day Guarantee, rest assured of fit, function and condition 🙂
