Notes from MyBikeThing: The 40/52 gearing is the sweet spot for touring and randonneur riding – smaller than racing gears (53/39), but with enough top-end for cruising on flats. This setup was popular on French touring bikes where you wanted climbing gears without going to a triple. Peugeot-branded cranks were typically made by Stronglight or other French manufacturers to Peugeot’s specifications. The 122mm BCD was a common French standard. These vintage French cranks are lighter than entry-level modern cranks and have that classic polished aluminum look. Perfect for vintage French bike restorations or anyone building a period-correct touring setup.
Workshop Wisdom: add some loctite to the chainring bolts.
